Divided by the Fort of Praia da Consolação, on the south side, there is a rocky beach – Praia das Rochas – rich in iodine which, combined with the exposure to the sun, provides excellent therapeutic conditions. This unique feature on the European continent attracts thousands of visitors to Consolação every year. On the north side, the extensive sandy beach of Praia da Consolação stretches for several kilometres as far as the beaches of Supertubos and Molhe Leste (Peniche).
